Let The Winter Prep Begin

It is the holiday season and you may be doing some holiday traveling. Even though we haven’t seen any snow just yet, we all know it can strike at any moment.  Being prepared on the road is always a necessity during these unpredictable months.  These tips are sure to prepare you for those wintery travel days.

  1. Stay Connected – Travel with a cell phone in case you need to call for help. It is also a great idea to travel with a portable charger as well. This way you know that your phone will always be charged.
  2. Keep Warm – Not only is it important to dress warm but it is also important to have some extra clothing in your car. A pair of gloves, a hat and a blanket would be a great addition to anyone’s car during the winter.
  3. Carry Tools – Tools like a shovel and ice scrapper can really come in handy during a storm. Also if you were to get stuck, a shovel would be a great tool to dig your tires out of the snow.
  4. Stay Hydrated – Bring a bottle of water and snack with you when you see the snow falling. Staying hydrated and energized is key to surviving a bad storm.
  5. See And Be Seen – It is important to keep your headlights and taillights clear of snow. This way other drivers will be able to spot you on the road. It is also important for you as a driver to be able to see clearly. Foggy windshields and dim headlights can lead to a very stressful trip on the road.
